Weldi: not a great leap forward

Weldi, een film van de Tunesische regisseur Mohamed Ben Attia.
Onze score

A dock worker who is approaching retirement and a teacher are concerned about their only son.

Why does he have such severe migraines? Is he sufficiently motivated to pass his finals? Suddenly, the son is gone. To Syria. To fight.

Weldi is not a great leap forward from the Tunisian Mohamed Ben Attia after his excellent debut Hedi.

But his unsentimental approach is nevertheless rewarding and Mohamed Dhrif makes it easy to have compassion with the father’s struggle with his faith and the complexity of these harsh times
