Piknik
Over the past six years, Piknik (formerly Piknik Elektronik) has become pretty much the open-air party for mixed audiences, ranging from bankers to artists! The Duden park, the Warandepark/parc de Bruxelles, or the Wolvendael park...Piknik attracts locals of all ages and backgrounds to our oases of green to treat them to a relaxing and convivial atmosphere on a delightful summer afternoon. With music, of course, and culinary delicacies, but also with great respect for nature. Ecological toilets, solar panels that provide energy, and a collective clean-up at the end are just a few of Piknik’s environmentally conscious choices. In the early afternoon, there are quite a few families with children around, but a few organic wines later, most of the visitors try some groovy dance moves, to the melodious electronic tones of, among others, the one and only DJ Fady One, Steph x, Earl Grace, Lorenzo Ottati, etc.

Apéros Urbains
Piknik should expect a certain form of competition from the almost equally renowned Apéros Urbains. The difference being that Apéros Urbains doesn’t only create a great atmosphere in parks, but also in other public spaces, such as place Wienerplein in Watermaal-Bosvoorde/Watermael-Boitsfort, or even the courtyard of the Steigenberger Hotel (the former Conrad Hotel).

The profile of the average Apéros-goer also looks slightly different than at Piknik: primarily young and hip urbanites looking to chill out on Friday evening after a hard day’s work, with a mojito in hand, and swinging tones or ambient music in their ears. But locals can also play pétanque or a round of cards with tipsy friends, or – who knows – even find a new boy-/girlfriend. Starting at 11.30 pm, there is sometimes also an after-party called Apéros Club at a nightclub, for people who like to dance the night away.
