Schaarbeek is slowly increasing the number of cherry trees on its territory. Last weekend, dozens of these trees were planted, in gardens as well as along the railroad tracks. The cherry tree was slowly disappearing in Schaarbeek. It may not be as pretty as its Japanese counterpart, but it does produce a much tastier fruit.
