De Meesterwerken: 'This notebook of Magritte contains the beginning of our emoticons'

Years ago, René Magritte shook the art world with his painting 'This is not a pipe'. At the Magritte House in Jette, there's a little notebook in which the Brussels surrealist (more or less) explains what he meant by it. For once, poet Philip Meersman may enter the sacred room where the painter created his art.
