The crime rate in Brussels decreases each year. There are less offenses in Brussels in 2016, pick-pockets have been much less active. The neighborhood police and the police presence in the street are key reasons for this. Yvan Mayeur and the new chief of police Michel Goovaerts have good news. It's the 2nd year in a row which crime has decreased in Brussels. In 2016, officers of the Brussel-Elsene zone registered 8% less crime than in 2015. Especially when it comes to car theft and pick-pocketing.
