Kick-Ass 2
By Jeff Wadlow, with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloë Grace Moretz, Jim Carrey, 113 min.

The big studios didn’t have the nerve to invest in Kick-Ass, but the public loved its irresponsible, provocative, cartoonish combination of humour and mindless violence. As a consequence, Kick-Ass (a teenager in a ludicrous ski suit who acts the superhero) and Hit Girl (a little girl who is brought up by her father to make mincemeat of scumbags, cursing as she does so) are getting another outing. Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake, Stardust) left the direction (sadly?) to the unknown Jeff Wadlow. Jim Carrey refused to promote this action comedy because he could no longer stand over its violence. Probably a good sign?


Everybody in Our Family
De Radu Jude, avec Serban Pavlu, Sofia Nicolaescu, 107 min.

La situation échappe à tout contrôle quand Marius essaie d’enlever avec violence Sofia, parce qu’il se refuse à croire à la maladie de sa fille de cinq ans et au départ de son ex-femme. Le Roumain Radu Jude applique aux personnages de ce drame domestique à la fois absurde et terrifiant un concept du philosophe Jean-Paul Sartre : « L’enfer, c’est les autres. » Aucun des personnages ne se révèle capable d’assumer ses responsabilités ni de réagir de façon appropriée aux injustices inhérentes à l’existence.
