96 is a movement primarily composed of young people. We are DJs, artists, videographers, producers, creators, organizers, volunteers, and much more. Together, we work in an intergenerational and interdisciplinary manner to bring unique contributions to the Brussels cultural environment. We call ourselves a movement because we want our actions to speak louder than the names of our members.
Both during the day and night, we create new opportunities for artists to perform. We aim to contribute to open and honest opportunities. We do this by collaborating with partners, by invitation, or by organizing events ourselves. We organize workshops, launch projects, and have residencies at BRUZZ and Microwave.live.
We are a movement of artists, and we mean that in the broadest sense of the word. Artists who create work in various media and share it online and in the physical world. Scenographers who create multimedia installations for both exhibitions and nightlife events. Producers who create original works, edits, or remixes. A DJ is also an artist who manipulates music and sound to create new sounds and can share a story or message through a DJ set. Art and music flow together in our projects, they influence each other and make each other stronger.
We always provide as much artistic freedom as possible to the people we work with, in any discipline. We assess which artist fits best in which program and primarily work with people who want and can use the opportunity to bring quality contributions to the Brussels landscape.
