The best thing to arrive in Brussels for a while has a four-letter acronym: MIMA. As well as offering "culture 2.0", this spot is also home to an exciting restaurant.

Millennium Iconoclast Museum of Art – is a place that's unique in all of Europe. By a strange twist of fate, this wonder is happening in Molenbeek, a borough that has been taking an undeserved bashing. It boasts a thousand square metres dedicated to an urban culture which usually moves between museums and other locations where art is solidified by a sort of institutional Botox. As well as a considerable amount of exhibiting space, the place includes an eatery that's well worth a visit. We noticed it the moment we walked in. The decor is remarkable. Ten or so pale wooden tables are arranged on a smooth concrete floor. At the far end, a piece by Maya Hayuk explodes with colour. The space is shared by a long counter, also concrete, and a system of shelves conceived by Recyclart. We also liked the comfortable walnut C-chairs designed by Jean Prouvé for Vitra.

In short, the place isn't lacking in charm. It serves light snacks: a more elaborate variation on what you get at Mamma Roma. In other words, pizzas "al taglio", that is to say by the slice, of which you can choose different versions. On our visit, we decided to opt for the lunch option for 11.50 euro, consisting of two pieces of pizza and a drink of our choice. The toppings on offer were original, like for example the excellent portion that included guanciale (pork cheek), smoked provolone (a cheese from Piedmont), and pumpkin purée.

Also worth mentioning is the pizza with a combination of finely sliced courgettes and fontina, an excellent cheese from the Italian Alps. Looking for a glass of wine? Giorgio, the manager, has made a small selection of bottles available, notably the Messer Otto, a red wine with the designation Aglianico del Vulture (Basilicata). It's a better option than the beers, which were the only disappointment, since they were all from the AB InBev range.
