From 6 until 16 December, Nationa(a)l Pop-up Store will bring ten days of Belgian creativity and new talent in visual arts, fashion, design, comic books, music, and movies. The idea for the event came from Adeline d’Ursel and Alexander Moens. While working as consultants for cultural and creative industries in Belgium, they discovered an enormous potential. But being creative doesn’t mean instant acknowledgment and success. You need communicative and promotional skills too. To support and promote Belgian creativity, D’Ursel and Moens founded the non-profit organisation Nationa(a)l. They chose a renowned patron to boost the different sectors. For visual art, painter Matthieu Ronsse chose four upcoming names. In fashion, Stephan Schneider (German fashion designer who graduated from the Antwerp Academy), the Brussels-based Annemie Verbeke, and shoemaker Joachim de Callatay chose a couple of new designers as well. Comic book lovers can enjoy new work, chosen by graphic designer and publicist Thierry Van Hasselt. Hooverphonic was asked to make a selection of new bands, represented by the Belgian Independent Music Association. And the Dardenne bothers are responsible for the choice of movies. Visit the Nationa(a)l Pop-up Store and meet the creative minds of the future. There will be a fashion show on December 7 and several surprise activities, including an exclusive concert. Keep an eye on the Facebook page for more info!
