A wide-awake gaze, no dark circles under the eyes, and glossy skin – sadly, we don’t all wake up looking like that. But some make-up from the US brand Bobbi Brown could make a difference. Their Brussels shop, a stone’s throw from the Beurs/Bourse, opened at the end of December. Bobbi Brown’s products have been on the go since 1991, the year when the make-up artist’s very first lipsticks went on sale in the prestigious Bergdorf department store in New York. More than a hundred were sold on the very first day and Brown was an instant hit. Why? Because the ten lipstick shades were so natural that women fell for them straight away. Bobbi Brown believes firmly that make-up is not there to give you a different face, but just to highlight your best features. “It’s who you are, but at your best.” The brand is now on sale in 65 different countries. Until recently, however, Belgian-based fans of Bobbi Brown had to travel to Paris and London. Now they only have to find their way to the centre of Brussels, where the proprietor of the de luxe Cosmeticary perfumery has opened a Bobbi Brown shop alongside. Step inside the shop and you will get extensive advice on what lipstick or eyeshadow colours suit you best, how you can make your eyes bigger with a dash of eyeliner, and what kind of concealer can make those dark rings disappear. The sales staff show how it’s done and let you have a go yourself too. That way, you know what you are buying and can leave assured of a new look. A new room is due to open soon on the first floor, where you (and your friends) can attend an hour-long make-up class. The new shop stocks the full range of Bobbi Brown products, including books, perfumes, and make-up brushes. Ideal for a radiant start to 2012!
