Yomeddine tells the story of a quadragenarian who as a baby was dumped in a leper colony north of Cairo. Beshay, whose face is badly scarred, is seized with the desire to discover his roots, and begins the long journey to the village of his birth. An orphan tags along.
Unfortunately, after the impressive beginning, the film gradually loses steam and comes to a standstill. Both the direction and editing are imperfect, but the biggest disappointment is the descent into a predictable melodrama with a questionable conclusion.
