Art and artists’ books have become hot stuff over the past few years, as is evident from the fact that Wiels is hosting its Art Book Fair for the fourth time.

One of the highlights of this edition will undoubtedly be the launch of the catalogue of the exhibition “Le pays où tout est permis” (8/9, 2 pm). In that show, Wiels brought Sophie Podolski back into the limelight: a Brussels artist who wrote and drew a radical, unsettling, and dizzying oeuvre at the Montfaucon Research Center in Elsene/Ixelles between 1967 and 1974, before taking her own life at only 21 years old. A tragic figure, who struggled with schizophrenia, society, and the times, but also a poet-artist of mythic proportions who is well worth remembering.
