At the beginning of this year, Jóhann Jóhannsson took, intentionally or not, a drug overdose. Now he's being remembered by the Ancienne Belgique.

The loveable Icelandic composer who debuted fifteen years ago with orchestral, yet intimate electronica on Englabörn and then became famous with soundtracks for, among others, The Theory of Everything and Arrival, was only 48.

The Ancienne Belgique is putting flowers on his grave in the form of a commemorative concert at the Béguinage church, where Jóhannsson’s good friend Adam Wiltzie of Stars of the Lid and the Belgian Brass ensemble will bring his second album Virðulegu Forsetar to life.
