“We are all children of Stanley Kubrick,” says Paul Thomas Anderson, the director of There Will Be Blood. By which he means that the influence of the director of classics like The Shining, 2001: A Space Odyssey, and A Clockwork Orange on the next generations of film directors was astronomical.

Cinematek agrees, and to mark the twentieth anniversary of Kubrick’s death, they are presenting After Kubrick, a programme of films that were influenced by the master. There Will Be Blood, Blade Runner, Birth, Interstellar, The Tree of Life… in other words, one monolith after another.
