The 28-year-old Kedr Livanskiy – her official name is Jana Kedrina – from Moscow is the latest darling of the Russian underground. It is not that we spend much time down there, but that is precisely why we take notice when an artist from there makes her way here.

Livanskiy used to drum in sludge and punk bands, but it is her ethereal mix of dreamy electronica, English-Russian angelic singing, and dazed beats that is now intoxicating the world. This is arty techno that she scratched onto the EP January Sun three years ago, before debuting in 2017 with the wonderful album Ariadna. Deafening music for hard times.
