They came to spice up the BRDCST festival last year and they are now returning to the stage of that same AB: Les Filles de Illighadad.
Les Filles de Illighadad spice up the AB once more
A Nigerian Toeareg band formed by guitarist Fatou Seidi Ghali, her cousin Alamnou Akrouni, and Mariama Salah Assoua, who plays the tende, a North-West African drum. Together, they conjure deliciously immersive desert blues from their colourful robes.
Their music is marked not only by the hypnotic playing, repetitive percussion, and twanging guitars, but especially also by their polyphonic singing. Les Filles’ sound is thus closer to the traditional music of the Sahel than that of Tinariwen or Terakaft.
