1637 I was looking at the ceiling
© Hubert Amiel | I was looking at the ceiling and then I saw the sky, a hybrid musical by John Adams and June Jordan.

When Los Angeles was struck by a major earthquake in 1994, the American composer John Adams and author, professor, and activist June Jordan made a socially committed musical theatre production at the intersection of musical and opera.

With a broad range of music genres and equally diverse series of characters who talk about the impact of the earthquake on their lives.

Following the terrorist attacks in Western Europe, the Belgian theatre-making duo Marianne Pousseur and Enrico Bagnoli wanted to repeat the exercise with young singers and musicians from the departments of classical music and jazz at the Brussels Conservatory.
