Her album debut Don’t Smile at Me combines her sultry voice with fresh, contemporary pop compositions. For the infectious “Bellyache”, she unflinchingly imagined herself as a serial killer: “Where’s my mind? / Maybe it’s in the gutter, where I left my lover.” It’s no coincidence that this heroine of the Snapchat generation recently covered Michael Jackson’s “Bad”.
