Joaquim Braz de Oliveira came to Brussels in the 1970s as a political refugee from Portugal. After twenty years of working in a restaurant, he suffered burnout and decided to devote himself to his passion: patisserie. He opened Forcado and focused on making the world-famous pastéis de nata. "Pastéis are a bit like Proust's madeleine: they make you nostalgic."
