'Witz': non-conformity is both the strength and weakness

Onze score

A French-speaking actress (Blancke) suffers brain damage as a result of which she cannot pronounce certain words, has become much too direct, and can no longer laugh.

At her doctors’ suggestion, she contacts a Fleming with the same problem (Louwyck). She is his salvation, and he falls in love with her, determined to make her laugh again. The subject of human and social imbalance is philosophically interesting material, but the non-conformity of style and content is both the strength and weakness of Witz.
